The next step will be the scheduling of a hearing on the nomination by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security, to which the nomination has also been referred. On October 27, 2009, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation voted to recommend to the the full Senate that it approve Mr. Southers’ nomination to be Administrator of the TSA.
